Marge has organized primary and secondary school education and outreach programs at Fermilab for 30 years. She developed the first program in 1983, a four-week professional development institute for high school science and mathematics teachers. Today, the Fermilab Education Office offers over 30 programs attended by some 35,000 students and reaching over 2,500 teachers annually. Marge is a co-PI and spokesperson for QuarkNet, a national program for high school physics teachers and their students and I2U2, a program to develop online data-based student investigations called e-Labs. The U.S. representative to IPPOG since 2009, Marge is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the recipient of the 1990 Max Bieberman Distinguished Alumni Award from University High School in Urbana, Illinois, and a recipient of the 1984 “Those Who Excel” Award of the Illinois State Board of Education. She was a middle school teacher and a school board and community college board member. “I really enjoy my work in education and outreach. IPPOG provides a special environment where talented people work together providing resources and activities that benefit formal and informal education at home and around the world.” Marge is elected IPPOG co-chair since 2013.
