GLOBAL COSMIC RAYS PORTAL

Projects for High School Students

cr

Welcome!

The IPPOG Global Cosmic group invites educators and students to embark on hands-on sessions using setups suitable to be deployed as tabletop designs. In some of them the participants receive step-by-step instructions to build and assemble cosmic ray detectors, often using scintillator materials and photomultipliers. In others, open source software is prepared to facilitate data acquisition. Web portals also provide data to analyse.

Projects have multiplied other the course of the last decade, and are presented in this portal as well as the two annual events actively supported by IPPOG: the International Cosmic Day organized by DESY and the International Muon Week organized by Quarknet.

The Global Cosmic group organize hybrid meetings twice a year to facilitate international exchange, and supports various cosmic-ray–related activities such as lending detectors, assisting students with their cosmic-ray measurements, and creating opportunities for interaction among students working on cosmic-ray projects around the world.
